Walk4Lanka – Arrangements on the day

Walk4Lanka – Farmoor Reservoir, Oxfordshire OX2 9NS    

A sponsored walk followed by picnic and raffle

Date and time of event: Sunday 25/09/2022, Start: 10.00 am – End: 2.30pm

Arrangements:

Please wear suitable footwear and clothes for walking and consider a hat and anti-Covid mask.

Bring a bottle of drinking water. It is advisable to do a few walks in the days leading to the event to limber up and prepare yourself for the long walk.

Please share vehicles among your close contacts to minimise congestion at the carpark.

Use the public toilets near the car park before the walk begins, to avoid having to use steep steps on the reservoir banks to reach the public toilets during the walk.

On arrival:

Please use the main carpark at the site.

Please make yourself known to the marshal keeping a participant record

Walk starts at 10.00 am and following a safety briefing, please set off in small groups.

Health & Safety Guidelines:

For your safety and comfort and minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission, you are advised to maintain a comfortable distance between the groups. While it is optional, you are welcome to wear a mask and bring your own hand sanitiser.

Please follow any local warning signs and keep away from the edge of the banks of the reservoir.

 There is only a raised kerb and not a rail or safety barrier around the reservoir. Therefore, the walk is not suitable for toddlers and very young children.

Children under 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and kept away from the waterside.

Watch out for fishermen throwing lines and ensure that your approach is noted by them

There will be marshals stationed at key points to assist and advise. First aid facilities will be available on the day, and if you need any medical assistance, please speak to your nearest marshal.

Picnic and Raffle

At the end of the walk all registered fundraisers will be provided with a delicious Sri Lankan snack pack. If you have any food allergies, please check before consumption. Further packs will be available for purchase. There will be a raffle drawn by the dignitaries present. Please bring a £5 “fiver”. Try your luck at winning some exciting prizes! All funds raised will be devoted to the cause.
