Doctor attending to a patient

Introduction

Government hospitals in Sri Lanka work under severe financial constrains. While the government provides basic needs of these hospitals there are many other needs which could improve the overall services as well as to help save lives of patients. This web site will hopefully try to rectify some of these difficulties for the benefit of the patients. This pilot project at Colombo South Teaching Hospital has been authorised by the secretary to Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka.

The Disaster Management Ward at Colombo South Hospital,  was in  the forefront of treating hundreds of  innocent civilian victims of terrorism. Our thanks go out to the hospital staff for saving many precious lives under these trying conditions. It will continue to receive patients from many disasters such as road traffic accidents and other calamities in and around Colombo. The hospital Director has sent a list of  equipment which could be purchased from companies in Sri Lanka to improve the services in this ward as well as in other wards and units across the hospital. If you wish to donate, please purchase and hand these  over to the hospital director Dr. Anil  Jasinghe
